Hobbies differ like tastes. If you have chosen a hobby according to your character and taste you are lucky because your life becomes more interesting. But if you have chosen a hobby according to your future profession you are lucky doubly because your free time activities coincide with your professional interests. This happened to us some years ago when we decided to become teachers of history. So we see history as a profession, hobby, pleasure and a reason to be proud of our nationality. What do we do in our spare time? 

Firstly, of course, we talk to our relatives and use their stories to aid in genealogy and family history. Nothing like learning history while learning about one's ancestors.

Then we try to surf the net and find some information out to know more about our native place. Our own research skills in history will represent the unknown pages of our history in an intriguing and accessible manner to our future pupils at schools. Although Volgograd Region is well-known for its war past, it has many places, which are little known, but so important in history. Recently we have discovered for ourselves one of these places which is called the Cliff of Shukshin. The Cliff is located in Kletsky District of our region. The film "They Fought for the Motherland" was filmed here. Vasily Shukshin died there when the shooting came to an end. We visited this place with the whole group and were amazed by its immensity. The next our discovery was the Natural Park "Nizhnehopersky" which has two glacial boulders. They were shifted by the glacier as it was moving from the mountains of Scandinavia. Then one of our group mates comes from Zhirnovsky District and she told us about the Source of Olga which is situated in there. According to legend, Saint Olga dug it in ancient times by her own hands. So we visited it as well. We went on and found out that in 2010 in Kotovsky District, local residents discovered the stone egg-shaped balls. Some scientists are interested in those fossils. According to their hypothesis, they may be eggs of a dinosaur. Visiting all those places we took a lot photos and made some notes not to forget anything.

In addition to this we write some articles which reveal curious facts, recall forgotten myths and legends, get us acquainted with interesting people who have somehow left a trace in our history. In this way we want to preserve stories and legends of remote spots that might soon be lots with all this depopulation. Some of us take part in different competitions with the scientific reports and even get the rewards.

Watching our presentation you may notice that our region and the city have many places that remain unknown to many people. Our land is mysterious and beautiful, but it is still has some "white spots" on it. Times have changed, names and monuments appear and disappear, but people's interest in history remains invariable. So we try not to be limited to some basic knowledge of the history and expand our own horizons, learning interesting facts from relatives, neighbours and other people. So we have the best hobby of all!

In conclusion we would like to say that our hobby gives us the opportunity of learning from it. Moreover, we believe it's the best way to our self-perfection and self-improvement as future teachers of history.
